King David prophecy and second coming Christ

There are many prophecies about second coming Christ in the bible. Among them, God hid secret of second coming Christ in the life of king David.

1. Seek David in the last days

Hos 3:5 Afterward the Israelites will return and seek the LORD their God and David their king. They will come trembling th the LORD and to his blessings in the last days.

Whom should the God’s people seek in the last days to receive the God’s blessings? To receive the God’s blessings means to receive salvation. And “the last days”indicates these days, so this is a prophecy to be fulfilled in this age. Then who is David whom we must seek in these last days?

2. The relationship between Jesus & King David

Isa 9:6-7 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever...

Here, God who was born as “a child”,”a son“is Jesus. And whose throne does Jesus sit on? It is David’s throne. (Lk 1:31-32)

The bible testifies Jesus comparing him to King David. Then let’s find out the prophetical relationship between David and Jesus. As it's said that Jesus would sit on David’s throne, let’s study about the David’s throne.

2Sa 5:4 David was thirty years old when he became king, and he reigned forty years.

David became king at the age of 30 and reigned Israel for 40 years. This life of David was prophecy and iy was fulfilled by Jesus.

Lk 3:21-23 When all the people were being baptized, Jesus was baptized too... Now jesus himself was about thirty pears old when he began his ministry.

At what age was Jesus baptized? At 30, just like King David. And He started his ministry. he could have started His work at the age of 20 or 40. But He started at 30, to fulfill the prophecy of David’s throne. According to prophecy of David’s throne, Jesus had to preach the gospel for 40 years. However Jesus preached the gospel only for 3 years at his first coming. Then, what about the remaining 37 years? 

3. The reason why Jesus must come again.

All the prophecies in the bible must be fulfill. So for the remaining 37 years of David’s throne, Jesus needs to come a second time.

Heb 9:28 he will appear a second time. not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.

To fulfill the prophecy of David’s throne that the First Coming Jesus did not complete, He is to preach the gospel for 37 years. Then what is purpose of His Second Coming? It’s to bring salvation. That’s why the prophet of Hosea said that those who will revere David in the last days will receive God’s blessings.

Then, among many false prophets in now days, how can we recognize the Second Coming Christ who will come according to the David’s throne? What is the sign of Second Coming Jesus?

4. The sign of Second Coming Christ

Isa 55:3 Give ear and come to me; hear me, that your soul may live. I will make an everlasting covenant with you, my faithful love promised to David.

God promised an everlasting covenant to David. What’s the everlasting covenant that God promised to David?

Heb 13:20 May the God of peace who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the seep,

As it reads, the “blood” of the eternal covenant, the everlasting covenant must be established by Jesus’ blood. Then what does the Bible call the covenant established by Jesus’ blood? It’s the New Covenant Passover.

Therefore, to recognize Second coming Christ, we have to find The One, who was baptized at 30 and preached gospel for 37 years bringing Passover according to the David’s throne.

Who does fulfill all of these prophecies? The answer is in the bible also(Jn 5:39).
