Through Moses, God freed the Israelites from Egypt's captivity and brought them out of the Egypt.
When the Egyptian army pursued the Israelites, God divided the Red Sea and let them across.
The Israelites landed safely on the ground, but all the Egyptian troops that were chasing them buried in the Red Sea.
In order to celebrate this day of power, God established 'the Day of Firstfruits', and the priest held a ceremony to wave a sheaf of the first grain, the first ripe fruit.
Lev 23:9-11
The LORD said to Moses,
"Speak to the Israelites and say to them: 'When you enter the land I am going to give you and you reap its harvest, bring to the priest a sheaf of the first grain you harvest.
He is to wave the sheaf before the LORD so it will be accepted on your behalf; the priest is to wave it on the day after the Sabbath."
The Day of Firstfruits becomes a prophecy of the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
1 Co 15:20-23
But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.
For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man.
For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive.
But each in his own turn: Christ, the firstfruits; then, when he comes, those who belong to him.
As this prophecy suggests, Jesus was resurrected as the first ripe fruit of the sleeper.
Mk 16:9
When Jesus rose early on the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom he had driven seven demons.
And to celebrate the day of Jesus' resurrection, 'the Day of Resurrection' is celebrated in the age of New Testament.
According to the Bible, Apostles ate bread on the Day of Resurrection. The custom of eating Easter eggs in many churches today is nowhere in the Bible.
The custom of eating Easter eggs is a festive custom of the goddess Ostara(called Eostre, Astarte, Ishtar…etc), the pagan god of the earth and spring, when the Germanic people greet the spring equinox.
This pagan goddess is called 'Ashtoreths' in the Bible, it is Baal's wife and an idol that God hates(Jdg 2:11-15).
It is ridiculous to follow the pagan custom while believing in God. Therefore, the custom of eating Ester eggs is idolatry.
Lk 24:13-35
… He said to them, "How foolish you are, and how slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken!
Did not the Christ have to suffer these things and then enter his glory?"
And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he explained to them what was said in all the Scriptures concerning himself.
As they approached the village to which they were going, Jesus acted as if he were going farther.
But they urged him strongly, "Stay with us, for it is nearly evening; the day is almost over." So he went in to stay with them.
When he was at the table with them, he took bread, gave thanks, broke it and began to give it to them.
Then their eyes were opened and they recognized him, and he disappeared from their sight.
They asked each other, "Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?"
They got up and returned at once to Jerusalem. There they found the Eleven and those with them, assembled together
and saying, "It is true! The Lord has risen and has appeared to Simon."
Then the two told what had happened on the way, and how Jesus was recognized by them when he broke the bread.
Jesus gave thanks with bread of the Day of Resurrection and let them open the spiritual eyes of recognizing Christ.
I hope many people will keep the biblical 'Day of Resurrection' and be blessed to realize the Holy Spirit and the Bride, the Savior of age of the Holy Spirit.
We are so blessed to open the spiritual eyes through the biblical way(with bread) Jesus showed to His disciples. I've got my spiritual sight to recognize ELOHIM, our Gods of this age.
ReplyDeleteEaster and Resurrection Day is totally different. We must recognize the right meaning of Resurrection Day and celebrate the feast. We must not look at God from our own point of view.
